LT. RAM SINGH JI was born in 1931 in old Delhi. He passed his childhood in poverty. So he never went in any educational institute but he learnt working knowledge of Urdu & English. His child-hood passed in abundant insufficiencies. His residence was very near to the church and church provided the bread for orphans he stood in that que to get the bread he used to deny his mother to be her son but taking the bread Soon back to the mother and clarified it was only the drama to get the bread but this difficult time did not stop it ran continuously. Now he started to work in small age to work as a film publicity boy tieing .The film posters on his back and front at the age of eight to contribute to live the family. On those days he attracted to vibrant colours of the film posters.
He wanted to learn it but how. After doing the work, at very late night He started to study the drawing on the street floor under the street light and tried to copy that he watched during the day with his younger brother. Deep interest made him an art lover. Soon he bored and wanted to do some different and put the words to not wear the western dress. He wore Trouser and kurta. He tried to draw perfect sense of figure with burnt piece of wood. Life was very difficult to him so he became a banner artist and earned some for his family. But in small age his parents married to a village girl, he was shocked .he was an ambitious attractive young having pleasant personality. After some time he trapped in magical spell of other girl & she stamped to his life. but posse’s high ambitions and never gave up his motto...
He wanted himself to be a calendar artist. He was strongly influenced by the religious ferment and became a master drawing man he was fascinated By the human body in motion and created array of dramatic gesturers and poses. He started his work as a calendar artist
His controversial third marriage to a poor artist girl brought great disturbance in his life. His second mistress made his life a hell. He escaped to Dalhousie and established a studio with the help of his brother. So the life bounded him to spend most of the time working in studio at Dalhousie. His success was enveloped by complications of his three marriages. He became like a saint. He left Dalhousie and reached to Bombay but he left Bombay soon disturbing with fashionable life of Bombay. Again settled his studio in kodai-kanal.he lived far from Gaiety because of the continuous labour to which he was subjected by the study and practice of art.
The winter of 1988 was bitter in Delhi He was in Calcutta he came down with stomach disorder and heart- problems...he weakened him later few days he finally died in heart attack in calcatta.none was with him. He painted uncounted number of paintings in his life time with his artist brother Lt.babu Singh. Both of the unchallenged artists contributed revolutionary development to the art field which can never be removed.
It was a fantastic dream, that was achieved by a poor boy it was broken after his death. His hard work and ambition made him an unseen unique personality of the country living far gaiety.
